From Rep. Sharon Steckman –

Today I would like to remind Iowans about several new laws that will hit the books the first day of 2014. Part of our effort was to strengthen the middle class, hard- working families who qualify for the earned income tax credit. They will find their tax credit has doubled this year. Also, all Iowans will benefit from a new $54 state income tax credit when filing 2013 taxes this winter.
Other new laws going into effect include:
• Iowa businesses can receive a property tax credit up to $500 in 2014 (and up to $2,000 in future years) if they fill out a simple one-page application by January 15, 2014.
• Increased safety for young drivers, including new drivers will now have to carry an instructional permit for 12 months, instead of 6 months, before getting an intermediate license. For young drivers with an intermediate license, a new change means there can be only one unrelated minor passenger in the car for the first six months unless there is adult supervision.
• Iowans who have transferred or sold a car will now have six months to transfer any registration credit remaining on an old vehicle to a new one. Previous law only gave Iowans 30 days.
Give it up Peter. Do you need help moving, or what is the problem?
Yeah Steckman why don’t you get off your ass and set a decibel level so small town hicks like here in North Iowa can’t get around the vague muffler law.
I meant to put this here…..
Give it up Peter. Do you need help moving, or what is the problem?
I’m glad you did, because I would never have seen it otherwise. Help moving? Well you could buy my land from me if you like. That would definitely help me out the door.
How much land do you have and how much you want for it?
2 acres…and I want $30,000. Zoned Residential/Agricultural. Power available at road. Brand new blacktop put in this last summer. I did many improvements including lots of tree removal and brush removal. I even began tilling before the cold set in. Great for organic hobby farm, horses, or to build a dream solar / underground home…which was my plan but I’m concerned of the political climate here in Iowa. I think Colorado is more conducive towards my long range goals. This is sad to me because Iowa was where I was born, and I love the rich soil here. But policy takes precedent.
So are you interested?
I forgot to mention…that includes brand new 8×12 steel roof storage shed with steel front entry and window, and I’ll even throw in some accessories like a brand new rear tine tiller, chainsaw, weed whacker etc. The building was purchases from Sono Ono at XTC auto about 3 months ago for $1400…and it’s insulated with sheet rock up as well. I could even bring power from the road but that would be cash deal only….no contract.
Peter, I did a property search again like I did before and I see no property in your name. Please explain.
Actually I’m going to take a moment to publicly apologize to Rep. Steckman. I didn’t mean to be so harsh. It’s just that I’m not too happy with elected officials right now given their inability to seem to want to address the motorcycle / loud tailpipe harassment issue. I know it’s complicated because of the growing numbers that comprise this voting block / culture…but the issue is really quite simple. We are supposed to have disturbing the peace laws put in place for the protection of the general peace…and these are generally based on common sense courtesies. Courtesy towards people has been trampled over by these loud biker types who think they are above community golden rule standards. And this applies to the Glass Pack Jerks as well who beef up their pickup trucks and cars.
So please Mrs. STeckman…collude with sensible lawmakers down in Des Moines and try and get a sensible solution put in place, so jack ass towns like Mason City and Clear have something to guide them, since they are so utterly incompetent and incapable of resolutions themselves. And NO, this will never become something the people must accept. We should never need to. Iowa Muffler laws are there and must be tweaked to include a decibel level or some form of Federal Stamp ID on suspected altered tailpipes / mufflers.
Thank you. and again sorry for being rude.
