Iowa combine and pickup collision causes over $50,000 in damages

FAYETTE COUNTY – People were hurt, a pickup truck was destroyed and a combine suffered big damage in this rural Iowa collision.

On October 15, 2024, at approximately 8:55 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a combine vs truck accident in the 3000 block of Diamond Road, approximately three miles south of Clermont. After further investigation, it was determined that Christian Beryl Miller, age 71 of Clermont, was operating a John Deere 9560STS combine with a grain head and heading west bound when he collided with a red 1997 Chevrolet K3500 truck that was east bound.
The Chevrolet was operated by Ben James Gibson, age 19 of Elgin.

As a result of the collision, minor injuries were reported. The combine and grain head sustained approximately $50,000 in damage. The Chevrolet K3500 is considered a total loss.

The accident remains under police investigation.
