Traffic stop yields drug bust (photos)

MASON CITY – Cerro Gordo deputies stopped an out-of-state car on South Federal Avenue in Mason City and discovered illegal drugs.

Two deputies had a red compact car with dark tinted windows and Minnesota license plates stopped at the corner of South Federal and 7th Street SE. One man was cuffed while another paced nervously puffing a cigarette. The two deputies conducted a search of the vehicle, going through a yellow envelope, a backpack, and checked the front and back seat areas. Soon, a deputy retrieved a clear plastc baggie with what appeared to be green, leafy substance inside.

Brandon Michael Plain, age 20, was cuffed and loaded into a police vehicle and transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. Plain’s male companion got into the red car and followed the two deputies as they drove off.
