CHARLES CITY – Christian rock bands invaded downtown Charles City Saturday night.
One of the bands, MIKESCHAIR, had the crowd waving and swaying to the tunes. People had their hands in the air and they waved them back and forth. Some chanted “PRAISE JESUS” after each song.
Frontman Mike Grayson told the crowd that had gathered in Central Park that he beat his drug addictions by sitting in a certain chair and writing music, hence the name, MIKESCHAIR.
“We had to drive through a lot of corn to get here,” Grayson said, “but we like corn!”
Food and other items like t-shirts were available, not to mention free New Testament bibles that were being handed out.
Local religious leaders were in attendance, like Father Gary Mayer, the new priest at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was shaking hands and saying hi to folks sitting in the park, enjoying the music.
“Great crowd, great music, glad you could make it,” he said.
