DES MOINES – A “targeted shooting” of a male victim at a downtown bar makes 16 homicides this year in Iowa’s capital city of Des Moines.
The shooting took place at a trendy downtown Des Moines bar on Ingersoll Avenue, Zora, that was recently built brand new on this busy corner and opened only a few months ago. Calls to police took place around midnight, after a young man was shot in the head. He apparently died later at a hospital. Police said the shooting was targeted. As of Monday, no one had been arrested for the crime.
“The impact of gun-related violence extends far beyond the victim of the crime,” police said in a statement. “Surviving family and friends, witnesses, neighbors, first responders, and even people passing by a crime scene; all feel the heavy emotions that come with these tragedies.”
Police said this is the city’s 16th homicide of 2022.
