MC woman still paying drunk driving fines is caught again

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman who is still trying to pay off her debts from her first drunk driving charge was caught again for the same offense this weekend.

Tammi Jo Holt, age 27, was stopped by Mason City police for a traffic violation on August 9 just after midnight at the 1200 block of North President Avenue. After an investigation, the officers determined Holt was intoxicated and placed her under arrest. She was taken to jail and charged with second offense operating while intoxicated.

A breath alcohol test was administered by the arresting officer to a female subject that day, the only female to have a test on that date. The un-named subject blew 0.244 twice. The legal limit is .08.

Holt was arrested in August of 2013 for first offense operating while intoxicated. She pled guilty in October of 2013 and was jailed for 2 days and ordered to pay $1,999.05 in fines and court fees. She has paid just $550 of that balance so far. She also received a drunk driving school certificate from Prairie Ridge. Records do not indicate whether Holt’s driver’s license was suspended, but Iowa law calls for a minimum revocation period of one hundred eighty days, and may involve a revocation period of one year.

They just keep going, and going, and going until they kill someone. I’ll have another Bud-wiser, please.

Does she need a ride home?
