Meservey council member removed for being absent for months

MESERVEY – An elected Meservey, Iowa council member has been removed from her post for being absent.

According to meeting minutes, Bonnie Brunstein, an elected council member in Meservey, has been absent from the council meetings for five months. The city did not received any written correspondence from her in the form of an official resignation.

The city received a letter from a concerned council member requesting that she be removed from the Meservey City Council due to habitual neglect or refusal to perform the duties of the office, including failure to attend meetings of the city council for the past five months. Council member Joey Dickman made the motion to remove Bonnie Brunstein as a Meservey City Council member. The motion was seconded by Todd Lauen and passed unanimously.

In other news, Meservey will hold its annual fireworks show on June 28th.
