MARION, IOWA- Ashley Hinson, Congresswoman-elect for Iowa’s district 1 seat in Congresss, is infected with COVID-19.

Hinson’s campaign sent a statement last week revealing she found out about her positive test on Wednesday night last week.

According to her campaign, “She feels great and is quarantining at her home in Marion until advised to do otherwise by her physician.”

Hinson has not said a word about her Covid positivity on her very active Twitter account, but did appear on FOX News, telling them, “I think it just came down to driving all around the district,” she said.  Hinson had appeared at numerous campaign stops around her district, which does cover portions of North Iowa.  Many of the events were attended by persons not wearing protective masks nor practicing social distancing.

Hinson, a Republican who ousted one-term Democrat Abby Finkenour,  is preparing for her 2-year term in the U.S. House of Representatives and will attend orientation virtually due to her illness.

“For planning purposes, Ashley Hinson will be participating in new member orientation for the 117th Congress virtually and is ready to get to work for the hard working taxpayers of Iowa’s First Congressional District,” her campaign said.
