MASON CITY – Law enforcement officers pursued and apprehended a wanted man on the city’s North End Sunday afternoon.
At about 2:16 PM Sunday, a sheriff’s deputy with the North Central Iowa Task Force spotted James Robert Perry, age 22 of Mason City. Perry was wanted on a number of warrants, including probation revocations for harassment, interference with official acts, and fourth degree criminal mischief; failure to appear in court for driving while barred and contempt for failure to pay child support.
Mason City police raced to the North End, heading north on Monroe Avenue, and attempted to conduct a stop of Perry’s vehicle at the 100 block of 17th Street NE. Perry refused to stop, and headed south on Federal Avenue to the 800 block of North Federal. He then bailed out of the car and left it on the roadway, running from the scene. Officers chased Perry on foot and apprehended him at the 000 block if 9th NW.
Perry was additionally charged with driving while barred, eluding and interference with official acts. He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on no bond.
