logo-iowa-state-patrolNEW HAMPTON – A head-on collision injured three Iowans Wednesday in Chickasaw county.

According to report, a pickup truck driven by sixteen-year old Ty Bergman, from Sumner, Iowa, was northbound on Windsor Avenue in southeast Chickasaw county at about 5:37 PM on August 28th, traveling behind another vehicle that was kicking up dust and causing poor visibility.

Another pickup with two occupants, Rollis Zupke, 67, and Blake Teeling, 30, both also from Sumner, had pulled over in the southbound side of the gravel road as the dust was settling. The vehicle driven by Bergman ended up in the southbound side of the road and struck the pickup with Zupke and Teeling, head-on.

All three persons involved in the accident were injured and taken to a Sumner hospital.

Bergman was charged with failure to yield half the roadway when meeting another vehicle.
