MASON CITY – He’s passed out in convenience store bathrooms previously, now he has graduated to the comfort of bushes in the Cultural Crescent.

Police reported that on May 3 at about 6:18 PM, dispatch received a call about a person lying in the bushes at 5th and S Delaware. Officers arrived and found a man at the location was apparently passed out or sleeping and intoxicated.

Police arrested Brandon Blake Slater for third or subsequent offense public intoxication, an aggravated misdemeanor. During the arrest, Slater caused damage to one of the squad cars that responded.  He was then charged with third degree criminal mischief and taken to jail.

Slater was soon released on his own recognizance.

In recent months, Slater has been found passed out drunk in a North End Kum & Go bathroom, and refused to come out; he later pled guilty to public intoxication. In January, police charged him with fifth degree theft, public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia after an incident at the south Kum & Go.

  1. Kind of looks like our mayor. Otis you just need to talk to Sheriff Pals and get a key so you have a place to sleep and then you wont get harassed so much.

  2. Why not. Music Man square is right there. And, a classy place like the Cultural Crescent needs cheap burgers to fuel all the activities it hosts.
