NIT – Reports have surfaced that a Waterloo murderer in prison since the 1970’s is about to be set free.

In April of 2013, Governor Terry Branstad granted Rasberry Williams’ commutation request. Williams, age 67, committed first-degree murder on July 20, 1974, in Black Hawk County. A jury convicted Williams of first-degree murder and he was sentenced to life without possibility of parole. Branstad commuted his sentence to life with possibility of parole.

Today, the Iowa Board of Parole granted Williams a parole and he will soon be free.

Williams, 68, has been said to be a model inmate during his decades behind bars.  He is now in Rockwell City.
