SCHALLER, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman and kicking her out of a house.
Law enforcement says that on February 10, 2023, at 8:23 AM, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Sparky’s in Schaller, Iowa to meet with a female who alleged an unknown male came into the house she was sleeping in located at 309 Selkirk Street in Schaller, Iowa and told her she needed to leave the house. The unknown male is alleged to have pointed a handgun or similar weapon at her during this confrontation.
During the course of the investigation, Jeremy Scott Barker age 25, of Schaller, Iowa was identified as a suspect. On Sunday February 12, 2023, at 2:45PM, deputies contacted Barker at his Schaller, Iowa home. Barker told investigators that he was called by a third party and asked to go to 309 Selkirk Street, Schaller, Iowa and make sure that the female victim was out of the house. Barker admitted to law enforcement that he did have in his hand a handgun, but denied pointing the handgun at the female. Barker told investigators that he knew there were swords in the home and that his why he had his pistol in his hand. Barker did show law enforcement a Taurus 9mm handgun that he said he was carrying.
Investigators arrested Barker and transported him to the Sac County Jail. Barker was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. Barker has since been released from the Sac County Jail on a $2000.00 secured appearance bond.
