Northern Iowa main street director accused of stealing over $25,000 from employers

CONRAD, IOWA - A Northern Iowa woman is facing a slew of felonies after she was caught allegedly stealing tens-of-thousands of dollars from her employers.

CONRAD, IOWA – A Northern Iowa woman is facing a slew of felonies after she was caught allegedly stealing tens-of-thousands of dollars from her employers.

Krista Grant (pictured at top), age 48 of Conrad, Iowa, was arrested Monday February 12, 2024, on seven (7) counts of theft related to charges stemming from the time she was employed as the Conrad Main Street Executive Director, during a four-year time period totaling more than $25,000.00.

Grant was charged by the Grundy county sheriff’s office with:

– Ongoing Criminal Conduct, a Class B Felony

– Fraudulent use of a credit card, a class D Felony

– Two (2) counts of Theft 2nd degree, a class D Felony

– Two (2) counts of Theft from an Older Individual, a class D Felony

– One (1) count of Theft 4th degree a Serious Misdemeanor

Grant was booked into the Grundy County Jail and later made her initial appearance. Grant posted a $51,000 surety bond and was released. She awaits a preliminary hearing on March 22, 2024.

Grant was also charged with felony first-degree theft by the Grundy county sheriff’s office back in September of 2023, for allegedly writing herself checks from the Southwest Grundy County Emergency Services Association when she was employed as treasurer with that organization. Grant entered a not-guilty plea in that case and now awaits a pre-trial hearing on April 15 and a possible jury trial on May 1.
