MASON CITY – If you receive a text message claiming to be from Wells Fargo Bank, the odds are it is a scam, and you should not reply.

North Iowa residents are reporting to the Mason City Police Department that in recent days, they are receiving text messages from someone claiming to be Wells Fargo stating “Debit Card BLOCKED because of error—click to reactivate”.

Police said that if you receive a text such as this, it is probably a scam. Do not reply or provide any personal information.

Report any problems to Mason City police at 641-421-3636.

Yup both wife and I received message as well!

Yes, both my wife and I received this text message today. We called Wells Fargo right away and they said all was fine with our debit card. The text we got was a scam and for us not to reply to it, just deleted off our phone.
