Children attack and rob man of his wallet leaving him with severe head injury

STORM LAKE - A young man was severely beaten and robbed by children, police say, in this Northern Iowa town.

STORM LAKE – A young man was severely beaten and robbed by children, police say, in this Northern Iowa town.

The Storm Lake Police Department is seeking information from anyone that may have witnessed an assault and robbery that occurred in the courtyard west of the apartments located at 532 Oates Street in Storm Lake early Monday morning, July 17, between 2:00 AM and 4:30 AM.

The victim, a 23-year-old male from Storm Lake, was assaulted by several juveniles and had his wallet stolen. The victim sustained serious head injuries and was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and was transferred to another facility.

Anyone that witnessed this incident, has information, or home video surveillance is asked to contact police.

Last week, The Storm Lake Police Department was called to a fight involving multiple subjects and children at the intersection of Seneca Street and East Lakeshore Drive. A 15 year old male with a stab wound was transported by private vehicle from the scene to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was subsequently airlifted to another hospital.

Police learned that several of the suspects involved fled the scene on foot northbound on Seneca Street.

Investigators worked throughout the night collecting evidence and executing multiple search warrants at various residences in Storm Lake.

Police arrested the following individuals:

A 15 year old Storm Lake male charged with:
Willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony
Going armed with intent, a class D felony
Participating in a riot, a class D felony

A 15 year old Storm Lake male charged with:
Participating in a riot, a class D felony

A 17 year old Storm Lake male:
Participating in a riot, a class D felony

All three subjects were transported to a juvenile detention enter where they are being held.
