MASON CITY – More dastardly deeds were reported in recent days in or near the city’s hallowed Cultural Crescent.
According to police, an officer was dispatched on December 6th t about 5 AM to the Mason City post office, 211 North Delaware Avenue, to take a report of vandalism to the stamp machine in lobby. “Someone had painted the touch screen,” on the stamp machine, officer Mike McKelvey said Monday.
Officer McKelvey also said that the police department also took a report from the Cerro Gordo Court House at approximately the same time for similar graffiti on various courthouse windows and doors.
“The paint, time of day are consistent,” officer McKelvey said.
According to Tom Drzycimski, courthouse personnel and safety director, “an employee coming in to work at about 6:00 AM Friday morning noted paint on the SW door and front doors of the Courthouse. She contacted the Mason City Police Department and filed a report. Images from security cameras are currently being reviewed.”
