AMES – Two wanted men suspected of playing a role in a car heist in Iowa were nabbed by cops in Louisiana, but not before they attempted to bolt and leave behind their illegal narcotics.

On July 19, at 10:43 AM, Kenner, Louisiana police responded to a FLOCK camera hit on a stolen license plate. Officers converged in the area and located the vehicle parked and occupied in the rear alley of the 2300 block of Idaho Avenue.

When officers attempted to detain the driver, 22-year-old Wilder J. Suazo-Lino, he decided running was smarter than cooperating, police said.

“Spoiler alert: it wasn’t,” cops chimed.  “Obviously, he didn’t get the memo that KPD prides itself on strength in numbers. After a brief but unwise attempt to escape, he was quickly apprehended by our officers.”

The investigation revealed that both the license plate and vehicle were reported stolen out of New Orleans, but police in Ames, Iowa, claim the vehicle was stolen there, first.

“On July 15, 2025, we took a report of a vehicle that was stolen from a convenience store in Ames,” Ames police said. “Thank you Kenner Police for your assistance in recovering the stolen vehicle!”

Inside the stolen ride, police say, were narcotics and another passenger, 28-year-old Meison F. Zuniga-Garcia, of New Orleans, who stuck around just long enough to be arrested on an active Kenner warrant for domestic abuse battery.

“Not a great weekend for Meison,” police reckoned.

“Moral of the story: If you’re going to steal a car, don’t park it in Kenner. Our cameras don’t miss, and neither do our officers.”

“Results such as this prove that our efforts in recruiting, training and technology are paying dividends. I thank the council and the mayor for their continued support! We will continue working together to keep Kenner safe,” said Chief of Police Conley.
