Twelve no-contact violations, new felony charge leveled against young M.C. man

MASON CITY – A young Mason City man who has been charged with three felonies in 2013 is now facing a new felony charge Thursday.

Cody Dean Dakin was wanted on charges of felony domestic abuse assault and false imprisonment.  He was apprehended last week by Mason City police in the Central Heights neighborhood after surrounding a residence at 2904 18th Street SW.  He was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail where he has been held since.

In new charges related to that case, Dakin was charged Thursday with 12 counts of violating a no-contact order related to the charges of domestic abuse assault involving strangulation and false imprisonment. He also now faces a felony D charge of suborning perjury. According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, suspect Dakin is being charged for violating a no contact order several times by telephone while incarcerated in the Cerro Gordo County Jail. The other charge – suborning perjury – Dakin allegedly conspired with another person to conceal material facts in a criminal case against Dakin.

In addition to the felony domestic abuse assault charge, Dakin beat a felony C drug charge this year, and is awaiting a jury trial this month on a charge of felony assault.
