WASHINGTON – A former congresswoman who was shot in the head nearly three years ago has started a political action committee (PAC) to fight for gun control laws and support anti-gun candidates.
Gabrielle Giffords, a former Democratic representative from Arizona, closed her congressional campaign account and used the funds from that account to form a PAC that would “boost lawmakers that supported a bipartisan gun control measure,” Politico reported Friday.
On January 8, 2011, a mentally ill man shot Giffords, killed six of her constituents, and wounded 12 others in Tucson, Arizona.
According to Politico, Giffords transferred about $300,000 from her campaign account and used it to start the Rights and Responsibilities PAC.
A PAC can give donations to specific candidates.
Giffords and her husband also run Americans for Responsible Solutions, a gun control super PAC that can accept unlimited donations from corporations and others but cannot make donations to candidates. The funds can be used to advocate for or against any cause.
According to Giffords, she is a “first a registered republican, considers herself a moderate democrat. She ran in six elections in Southern Arizona and won each of them. A third generation Arizonan, Giffords has long been a gun owner and believes in the constitutional right of all Americans to safe and responsible gun ownership.”
NO! We don’t have to force a false agenda on the free people of this Nation to do what we Already have done! Since 2000 gun deaths have dropped by numbers like these all the while Guns sales have gone up! A lot! Like about 75% or so! Gun deaths have dropped from 6.5 or more per 100,000 people to something like 3.6 or less per 100,000 people. Hammers, bath tubs, car accidents, knives those numbers I have not researched but somewhere between 1 and 10 are likely I am assuming. Gun sales have gone from something like 190M to over 310M during that time. More guns means less deaths obviously! Less guns means more deaths obviously! I knew all along that Liberal Progressives wanted to kill people!
If we could reduce gun deaths by a significant number, like say oh I don’t know maybe 40-50% let’s say over a reasonable time period like 10-15 years, how much of an accomplishment would that be? How could we make that happen? Would we have to violate ourselves, aka the Constitution, and make massive gun grabs to get there?
