Village Coop to celebrate third anniversary

Sunday-sign-village-coopMASON CITY – The Village Cooperative will observe its third anniversary as a Mason City neighborhood with a ribbon-cutting to mark installation of a “Comfort Zone bench” at the Co-op’s Taft Ave. entrance. Dedication and ribbon-cutting activities will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, Oct. 10,2013.

The bench is sited adjacent to a walking path that parallels Taft Ave. between State St. and 4th St. NW. The path is in frequent use by Co-op residents and others from the area. Walkers are invited to pause and enjoy a quiet moment or chat with friends who pass. A residents-only catered dinner in the Cooperative’s Commons Room will be held that evening to celebrate the Co-op’s anniversary.

The 50-unit Village Co-op is resident-owned by households in which at least one member is age 55-plus. The first homeowners moved into their units September 29, 2010. Since its inception three years ago, the Co-op has become a landmark in northwest Mason City. Unit sizes vary from 840 square feet through 1,416 squar~,feet. Prices range from $40,275 through $77,000, depending on size and location. All units are currently occupied and a waiting list has been developed.
