Charles City man taken to hospital after car-bicycle collision

CHARLES CITY - A Charles City man was taken to the hospital after a car-bicycle collision.

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man was taken to the hospital after a car-bicycle collision.

The incident took place on November 7, 2022. According to Charles City police, at 4:54 PM that day, officers responded to the intersection of North Jackson Street and Blunt street for a car versus bicycle traffic accident. Police say that a bicyclist, 60-year-old Marty Lawson of Charles City, was crossing the street at this intersection, he was struck by a green 2014 Hyundai Accent, driven by 37-year-old Christine Johnson of Charles City.

As a result of the collision, Lawson was taken to the Floyd County Medical Center for possible injuries. Johnson’s Hyundai was not damaged, but police cited her for expired vehicle registration.

Police are still investigating the incident.
