BOONE COUNTY — An Iowa man was killed and a woman was injured in a head-on crash involving a Jeep and a semi in Boone County, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash happened at 2:02 p.m. on June 15, 2026, in the 2100 block of 190th Street.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 34-year-old Bailey Jo Craven of Des Moines was driving a 2022 Jeep Compass westbound on 190th Street. A 2020 Kenworth semi, driven by 26-year-old Wyatt Robert Corbin of Boone, was eastbound on the same road.
The patrol report says the Jeep entered the oncoming lane and moved into the path of the semi. The Jeep then struck the semi head-on.
The Jeep came to rest in the south ditch on its driver’s side. The semi came to rest jackknifed in the roadway, blocking both lanes.
A passenger in the Jeep, 37-year-old Tristan Kyle Nelson of Ames, was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner. The report says Nelson was wearing a seat belt.
Craven was injured and transported by air ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. The report says she was also wearing a seat belt, which was listed as having saved her life.
The semi driver was not listed as injured in the report.
The semi was operated by M&W Ag Supply LLC of Jefferson. The Iowa State Patrol report says no hazardous materials were involved.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Boone County EMS assisted at the scene.
