NIACC men’s cross country team has 10th best GPA
MASON CITY – The NIACC men’s cross country team ranked 10th among all NJCAA teams with a team grade point average of 3.546 for the 2012 season.
All teams with a 3.25 GPA or better were named academic teams of the year. El Paso County Community College (Texas) was the top-ranked team with a 3.851 GPA.
NIACC freshman Mason Powers (3.73), freshman Scott Patnode (3.67) and sophomore Josh Olinger (3.59) were academic all-Americans. Powers is from Gilbert, Ia., Patnode is from South Milwaukee, Wis., and Olinger is from Lindstrom, Minn.
For the NIACC women, freshman Rebecca Baker (Clear Lake, Ia.) was also an academic all-American (3.59).
