MASON CITY – Around 4:00 pm, the snow started to fall again. The National Weather Service out of Des Moines said today:
An upper level system will impact Iowa today through Friday. The system will bring snow to portions of northwest Iowa today with the precipitation expanding southeast tonight and Friday. The heaviest amounts will be over the north, mainly along and north of Highway 20 with 2 to 4 inches, and locally higher amounts are possible. Farther south, patchy freezing drizzle may develop after midnight tonight into Friday morning. Minor ice accumulations may occur along with light snow. The system will shift east by Friday night then cool and dry conditions are expected for the weekend.
Here are a couple pictures that were taken shortly before 5:00 pm in the Southwest part of Mason City.
A snow plow was seen gasing up and loaded with sand, getting ready for any snow accumulation and ice.
Please drive with caution.
