A 32-year-old Clear Lake man has been sentenced to serve up to 10 years in prison for satisfying his sexual desires with a 13-year-old female.

On April 21st Clear lake Police Officers arrested 32 year old Edric Henry Rashall Morris IV of Clear Lake on two class C felony counts of Committing Lascivious Acts with a Child. According to Police Chief Greg Peterson, the arrest was a culmination of an investigation that began on March 14, 2012.

The charges stem from an incident in November of 2011 and another incident on March 14, 2012 at Morris’ residence where he allegedly committed sexual acts with a 13 year old female.

Court records show Morris entered a voluntary negotiated plea agreement with the prosecution and entered a written plea of guilty to one of the two charges on July 10th. In exchange the 2nd charge would be dropped at sentencing on application.

At the scheduled sentencing hearing on Tuesday, August 21st, presiding District Court Judge Rustin T. Davenport sentenced Morris to serve up to 10 years in prison for the one charge he had voluntarily plead guilty to. Judge Davenport suspended a $1,000 fine against Morris, ordering him to pay $605.00 in court costs and lawyer fees.

Judge Davenport extended a no contact order against Morris for 5 years. Morris will also be required to register as a sex offender for life upon his release from prison.

Morris remains in the Cerro Gordo County Jail pending transport to prison.

  1. Could someone please fill me in on why they don’t use “medical” castration on sex offenders? Is it because much of the problem lies in their brain instead of between their legs? Couldn’t they implant some type of hormones or chemicals in these people to eradicate the desire? In this day and age (we’re on Mars, for cripe’s sake!) they should have a solution for this.

    1. Castration, whether chemical or surgical, doesn’t completely fix the problem. I think the shrinks feel the root of the problem is the feeling of control and power that the perpetrator feels over his victims and not the actual sex act itself. I’m not saying I agree with that. I’m saying I have read that explanation. Bleeding heart liberals would not think it is right to take away a person’s right to have a sex life, even though they use sex criminally. We don’t castrate sex offenders for the same reason we don’t chop off thieves’ hands or behead people in this country. I’m not sure sex offenders can ever be rehabbed but I think they should try a voluntary castration program with supervised release for certain non-violent repeat offenders.

  2. I like the Globe’s article where they sugar coat it and forget to mention the plea bargain with a sex offender that got another potential 10 years dropped.

NIT reports the brutal honest truth, “for satisfying his sexual desires with a 13-year-old female”.

  3. I hope somebody preys on him whild doing time, and I agree he should be castrated! I would if it was my child or grandchild he was messing with! Maybe we need to get out the linens and visit the boy!

  4. I hope someone preys on him while he is serving time! I agree, they should castrate the bastard, I would if it were my child or grandchild!

  5. face it, there aint going to be any “justice” in this town less something bad happenes to the loved ones of them letting these sick bastards off with the minimunm- ALL THEY SEE IS $$$$$$$$ signs, NOT our kids, our neighbors, our friends…. this gosh forsaken town is a disgrace to iowa AND the united states… you ought to stand and give yourselves at the courthouse a round of applause…

  6. The key words here are, up to, he’ll be out in less than 1. When registering as a sex offender, he should be castrated at the same time. That goes for all pervs that mess with children…

  7. Watch this POS appeal his plea of guilty, and wind up, back on the streets in NO TIME AT ALL! We’ve seen it happen, time and time again, “released for time served”.
IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN, I hope BOTH Morris IV AND Judge Davenport, have that uneasy feeling of crosshairs, on their person.
EVENTUALLY a family member, in one of these REPEATED situations, is going to snap!

Where do you think “things” went wrong, hmmmm? I’m guessing somewhere between Morris, and Morris III.
