Today’s editorial defines the meaning of oxymoron if nothing else. In it the Globe refers to three entries: The Chamber of Commerce, the North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corp. and Main Street Mason City. If you can somehow tie these impressive titles to a “driving force” then you’re a hell of a lot smarter than I am. Next I guess you need to define what a driving force is; we know it’s not driving any jobs here, no mystery about that.
Why don’t they give it up? There is zero results coming from all these make believers and the Globe props them up with the same dribble that’s worn a bit thin around these parts.
They go on to say the Commerce Center is fulfilling its mission. How’s that? What mission? Do you see any new tenants filling up store fronts? No. Do you see some shutting their doors for good? Yes. Are there new factories coming in? No. What is the mission that is being filled? Bullshit; that’s the best definition I could give you…..and the worst part is that some of you buy into this.
We cannot live now like we did in 1962, that was then…this is now. We are painfully reminded by the local paper that we have all these “red scarf “ people who have yet to earn an honest day’s pay extolling their accomplishments which are little more than sand castles in the sky. “Where’s the beef?” I don’t see it, do you see it? The Chamber cannot live off the Band Festival, that dog won’t hunt.
Now Trout calls for common sense, he says wait on the Hockey Rink; duh. He must be reading the blogs on NIT because no original idea’s are stemming from 5-East that is a certainty. Next he should stop fooling with the Trash Haulers and the Fire Fighters…back off.
