MASON CITY – The grave sites of veterans all across America will be adorned with wreaths this month to honor their service, and Mason City will participate in the event.
At the December 2, 2025 City Council meeting, Mayor Bill Schickel proclaimed that Saturday, December 13 as ‘Wreaths Across America’ day. The day will include wreath-laying ceremonies at over 4,225 locations in the United States, including Elmwood – St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. In 2024, Elmwood Cemetery placed over 1,300 fresh wreaths on the grave sites of our veterans.
You can support Wreaths Across America by:
- Volunteering: Help lay wreaths at a local cemetery or participate in a ceremony

Sponsoring a wreath or wreaths: You can sponsor a wreath, to be placed at the gravesite of a veteran

Inviting others: Invite friends, family, coworkers, and organizations to join

Spreading the word: Help raise awareness of Wreaths Across America
