FOREST CITY – The Waldorf College Choir will be singing their way to the East Coast and back during their annual spring tour. The tour will be making stops in Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania.

“Touring gives the students numerous opportunities for growth as musicians and in their personal lives,” Dr. Adam Luebke, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities, said. “The students learn to communicate and grow by working together, developing a strong bond.”

In planning a tour, Dr. Luebke looks to places and opportunities that are unique and significant for students. For example, this year the choir will be performing at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC – a rare and exciting opportunity.

The choir also takes this chance to recruit potential members by performing for, and with, local high schools along the route. “The students serve as wonderful ambassadors of the college and are exemplary in the way they convey the college’s mission of learn, live, serve,” Dr. Luebke said.

Luebke said he sees a wonderful transformation between the send-off concert and the final performance, each concert improving on the last. “As a choir bonds through touring experience, the music becomes more unified and the students sing with a greater sense of oneness,” he said.

The choir will hold a send off concert April 24 at 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

The Waldorf College Choir performance schedule will be:

May 6 – Mahomet, IL
May 7 – Worthington, OH
