CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Four runners on the NIACC Track and Field teams opened their indoor seasons with top-five finishes at UNI’s Panther Relays on Saturday.
For the men, Cody Manchester (So., Mason City, IA) had a third-place finish in the 3000. His time of 9:02.99 was a little over 11 seconds behind Iowa Central’s Jamal Boma who won the race in 8:51.57.
Marquez Hobson (So., Minneapolis, MN) was third in the mile with a time of 4:45.84. Brett Egan of Northern Iowa won that race in a time of 4:20.77.
OJ Ojullu (Fr., Worthington, MN) finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:03.40, three seconds behind race winner Derrick Finsterwalder of Iowa Central (2:00.04).
On the women’s side, Anna Buenneke (So., Hazleton, IA) placed fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:30.49. Kara Keller of Grand View was first with a time of 2:26.24. Buenneke also placed fifth in the 1000 in a time of 3:11.60.
NIACC will next be at the Iowa State Indoor Open on Friday and Saturday.
