FAYETTE COUNTY – This Northern Iowa suspect allegedly eluded cops in a high-speed auto chase, and the next morning was spotted wandering about on foot, leading to an electrifying experience and a cold jail cell.
On October 2, 2025, at approximately 10:51 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious male walking along Willow Road near 20th Street. A Fayette county deputy later located the male subject near W Avenue and 20th Street. The male subject attempted to run away through the field and was subsequently tased and taken into custody without any further incident.
The male subject was identified as 39-year-old Shawn P. Hansen of Dunkerton, Iowa. He was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was charged with interference with official acts. Hansen was also being sought after by the Oelwein Police Department from another incident the night before. Court record show Oelwein police charged Hansen with felony C eluding and a host of other traffi violations from the October 1 incident.
Hansen (pictured at top) remains jailed, awaiting a hearing set for October 8.
