TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu explained on Friday that his plan to once again use military forces to invade the Gaza Strip is not to occupy the war-ravaged zone run by terrorists, but to merely install a friendly civilian government.
According to Netanyahu, “We are not going to occupy Gaza – we are going to free Gaza from Hamas. Gaza will be demilitarized, and a peaceful civilian administration will be established, one that is not the Palestinian Authority, not Hamas, and not any other terrorist organization. This will help free our hostages and ensure Gaza does not pose a threat to Israel in the future.”
The disastrous war began on October 7, 2023. Barbaric Hamas terrorists overwhelmed the Israeli border and killed or kidnapped hundreds of Israelis from their homes. Since then, Israeli forces have chased the perpetrators into their craven tunnels deep under the streets, hospitals, schools, and daycares of Gaza, where the bloodthirsty animals hoard food and weapons. Gazans elected Hamas to run their tiny society, and the price has been steep, as millions have been displaced, killed, maimed, or otherwise terrorized by the on-going war.
Iowans stepped up to aid Israel immediately following the invasion. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds proclaimed Blue Ribbon Week in support of Israel. About a week later, Reynolds authorized a gift to Israel from Iowa of tons of COVID supplies.
