DES MOINES – Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds welcomed a top Israeli diplomat to the state capitol this week and offered up hundreds of pallets of stocked up COVID supplies from the pandemic to aid the war effort in the Middle East.

Consul General of Israel Yinam Cohen was in Des Moines this week to trade pleasantries with Lt. Governor Adam Gregg and Governor Kim Reynolds, a staunch supporter of the embattled nation.

“Proud to welcome the Consul General of Israel, Yinam Cohen, to Iowa. We will always stand with Israel!” Kim Reynolds shouted.

At this time, Israel may be more under attack than ever in its brief history as a modern nation, dating back to the late 1940’s, and needs allies and support badly to fend off growing worldwide anti-Semitism. Its enemies are perched at their borders and the future is uncertain as war rages in the Middle East.

“Thank you, Governor, for standing strong with Israel!” Cohen proclaimed this week as he visited Iowa. “I had a meaningful meeting with the Governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg. Thank you, Governor Reynolds, for your leadership and support during these challenging times for Israel. You are a true friend!”

During the visit, Reynolds, Gregg, Cohen and other big shots posed in a warehouse in front of rows and rows of pallets of wrapped PPE (personal protective equipment) evidently stockpiled to fight the COVID pandemic. Reynolds proclaimed, “Iowa is donating nearly 208 pallets of excess PPE from our state stockpile to a non-profit that will be sent to Israel.  We will continue to pray for Israel and their safety!”

The non-profit wasn’t immediately disclosed.

Prior to Cohen’s arrivals, Reynolds signed a proclamation declaring the week of October 22nd through October 29th, Blue Ribbon Week and calling upon Iowans to observe this moment of solidarity by wearing blue ribbons in support of Israel.

Currently, Israel appears to be in the middle of a ground invasion of Gaza, a small piece of contested land with over 2 million inhabitants (mainly Palestinians) north of Egypt and south of Israel that is governed by the terror group Hamas.  The world is aflame with a struggle between supporters of the Israelis and the Palestinians as both groups have accused the other of murderous crimes against each other and engaged in territorial disputes over the last several decades.

Back on October 7, a state of war in the Middle East was launched that morning as Hamas invaded Israel with soldiers and a torrent of missile attacks.  Hundreds were killed and scores taken hostage in the barbaric provocation by terrorists.  In response, the United States sent an aircraft carrier group to the Middle East to show support for American ally Israel.  Immediately following the attack, Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff.  Last night, President Joe Biden declared America must stand with Israel and other Western Democracies as the forces of evil mount attacks.  Eligible Israelis can now travel to the United States visa-free, the federal government announced.
