WACO, TEXAS – Iowa State’s surprising turnaround this season continued today as the Cyclones went down to Waco, Texas and thumped Baylor, 30-18.

Iowa State (5-3, 4-1 Big 12) moved into a tie atop the Big 12 Conference with the win today over Baylor (3-5, 2-3). An 18-yard touchdown pass from QB Rocco Becht to Jayden Higgins on the opening drive was ISU’s first touchdown on the opening possession this season.  The Cyclones jumped out to a 17-0 lead and never looked back.

Matt Campbell, Iowa State head football coach

Matt Campbell is now 51-45 at Iowa State and 86-60 overall as a head coach. Campbell is now 36-32 against league opponents, the most league wins by an ISU coach in school history.

Iowa State posted its third undefeated October under Campbell (2017 and 2018) and the ninth in school history.

The Cyclones have opened conference play 4-1 for the third time in school history (2017 and 2020).

Iowa State has its first three-game conference win streak since 2021 and the seventh under Campbell.

ISU improves to 10-12 all-time against Baylor and wins in Waco for the fourth time (4-7) and the first since 2017.

The Cyclones picked up their 13th conference road game since 2017.

Iowa State won its sixth-straight game when scoring at least 21 points.

The Cyclones 13 interceptions this season, the most in the Campbell era.

ISU has an interception in five-straight games for the first time since 2018 and the first time in five-straight conference games since 2005.
Iowa State has won 19-straight games when leading at the half and is 40-5 when doing so under Campbell.
