Troubled Mason City man in jail after skipping court date

MASON CITY – A man in jail numerous times in recent months is back behind bars again after missing a court date last week.

Jeffery John Hargis, 45, had a court date set for August 28th related to a third degree theft charge and subsequent violation of his probation. Records show Hargis failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Hargis was taken into custody Monday and taken to jail.

Hargis will face a probation revocation hearing on September 16th. He is being held on $1,000 bond in the Cerro Gordo County Jail at this time.

Hargis was last arrested on July 17th after he was allegedly intoxicated and causing a disturbance in a North End alley.
