IOWA CITY – An Iowa teen was shot in this college town, not far from a park, and cops are hunting for clues.
At approximately 10:16 PM on Monday, March 9, 2026, Iowa City Police were called to the 2700 Block of Wayne Avenue for a report of gunshots in the area. This is near Mercer Park, and schools are in the proximity as well.
Responding officers located evidence of a shooting near the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Baker Street. One juvenile was hit by gunfire and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
This incident remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department.
