Steve King to hold town hall meeting in Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE – Congressman Steve King will hold a town hall meeting in Clear Lake on Monday, April 9, from 9:00 to 10:00 am. The public is invited to join him at the Lakeview Room, 10 N Lakeview Drive.

King became an official candidate for re-election when his campaign filed nomination petitions with Iowa’s Secretary of State in March. The incumbent collected over 8506 signatures, far exceeding the 1668 signature minimum, and qualified all of the 39 counties in Iowa’s new 4th Congressional District.

“I’m very pleased to see such broad support for my re-election, especially within the 21 new counties in the new 4th District,” King remarked. “My campaign will focus on transformative issues and core principles. My life’s work is as the founder of a second generation construction company, a State Senator, and a Congressman. Having met payroll for over 1400 consecutive weeks, part of that time while in the legislature, and raised a family gives me a solid foundation to represent Iowans.”

In Congress, King’s legislation to repeal ObamaCare passed the House. He is an outspoken fiscal conservative intent on reducing the nation’s massive debt. “Reagan Ann King, my 18 month old granddaughter, owns a share of the national debt of over $50,000,” he stated. “Ronald Reagan would never have tolerated such massive debt. We owe the Reagan Kings of the next generations better.”

King currently represents Iowa’s 5th Congressional District and serves on the U.S. House Agriculture, Judiciary, and Small Business Committees. He is seeking re-election in Iowa’s new 4th Congressional District of which he is a lifelong resident.

“It is the honor of a thousand lifetimes to represent Iowans in Congress. Each day I have the privilege, I am driven by the urgency to put our country back on track and to realize the full potential of American destiny,” King said.
