Floyd County Community Foundation Awards Grants

CHARLES CITY – In a ceremony on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Charles City Public Library in Charles City, Iowa, the Floyd County Community Foundation awarded grants to 31 organizations with a total of $100,388.62 in grants for the betterment of Floyd County.

The Community Foundation awards grants on an annual basis. Since 2006, the Floyd County Foundation has awarded more than $640,000 in grants to Floyd County projects. Grants may be awarded in the following areas: arts and culture, community betterment, education, environment, health, historic preservation, and human services. Eligible applicants must be a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; a governmental body (school, city, county) or a charitable project with a qualified fiscal sponsor. Applications for the next granting cycle will be available in August 2013 with a deadline of September 30, 2013.

The Floyd County Community Foundation also offers charitable giving and endowment opportunities for Floyd County. Anyone can use the Community Foundation as a vehicle to give. Individuals, families, businesses and organizations may choose to create charitable funds or contribute to existing funds. Gifts can be of any size from modest amounts to millions of dollars, and the Community Foundation accepts a wide variety of gifts to support Floyd County communities now and in the future. Donors to the Community Foundation also have the ability to receive a unique 25-percent tax credit through the Endow Iowa Program.

The Floyd County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created by and for the people of Floyd County. The Foundation’s mission is to strengthen Floyd County communities by encouraging charitable giving to create legacies for the future. They offer world-class donor services and wise investing.
