DAVENPORT – An Iowa man stole a car then tried to run folks over before fleeing and crashing the vehicle as he brandished a firearm before being arrested.

On Monday, August 5, 2024, approximately 3:01 PM, Davenport Police received a report that a complainant had located their stolen vehicle in the 2300 block of W 49th Street. The complainants attempted to recover the stolen vehicle when the suspect, allegedly displaying a handgun and attempting to strike the complainant with the vehicle, fled the scene.

Officers quickly located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect, later identified as Steven K. Bolio (pictured at top), 32, of Davenport, refused to stop, leading officers on a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended on Interstate 280 eastbound near mile marker seven where the suspect lost control of the vehicle, crashing in the median where he was taken into custody. During the pursuit, Bolio pointed a firearm at officers multiple times. Through investigation, it was later determined the firearm was a realistic BB gun.

Davenport Fire and Medic EMS responded to the scene and Bolio was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
