OBIT: Betty May Block

Betty May Block, 86, of Mason City, IA passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the I.O.O.F Home in Mason City. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a one-hour prior visitation on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Betty May Block, 86, of Mason City, IA passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the I.O.O.F Home in Mason City. Funeral arrangements are with Fullerton Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a one-hour prior visitation on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N Delaware Ave, Mason City. Reverend Karl Bollhagen will be officiating and following the service Betty will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. In expression of sympathy, memorials may be directed to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Betty was born on August 28, 1938 in Buffalo Center, IA to Fred and Anna (Albers) Westendorf. She was raised in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School. On August 24, 1963, she was united in marriage at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA to Stanley Block. She most recently worked as an Inspector for Minnesota Rubber for 11 years until her retirement. Betty was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City and participated in the Moose Lodge bowling league.

In her free time, she enjoyed having coffee with friends, riding bikes and long walks with her husband Stanley. They also loved traveling wherever the trip took them. Her hobbies included reading, especially mystery books and flower gardening. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family and friends; especially her nieces and nephews.

Those left to cherish her memory include: her sister, Marilyn Jean (Robert) Miller of Charles City, IA; nephew, Kip Allen (Christine, of Salem, OR) Miller of Charles City, IA, and their daughter, Kimberly Ann (Jeff) Fuhrman-Miller and their son, Rowan Luke Fuhrman-Miller, of Salem, OR, and son, Alexander Logan Miller of Salem, OR; niece, Leah Jean (Quinn) Weber of Charles City, IA, and their two sons, Christian (Cassidy) Weber of Mesa, AZ, and Jared (Sonja Gilbertson) Weber of Sycamore, IL; and sister-in-law, Lisa (Alan) Kratunis of Lake Villa, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Block; parents, Fred and Anna Westendorf; and in-laws, Albert and Mable Block.
