BURLINGTON – Diligent investigating and video surveillance evidence helped cops nab a paroled crook who allegedly stole $55,000 worth of copper pipe from a business.
On August 13, 2024, officers from the Burlington Police Department responded to a theft in progress on the property of Ferguson Plumbing. When officers arrived on scene, the suspects fled on foot. Officers were advised copper piping was stolen by the individuals totaling in over approximately 55,000.
Upon investigation of the theft, officers were able to view security footage of the incident and identified one of the suspects to be Mickey Sourwine (pictured at top).
After a week long investigation of the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Sourwine for theft in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony).
On August 22, 2024, officers learned about Sourwine’s whereabouts and attempted to make contact with him. Sourwine fled on foot and lead officers in a brief foot pursuit where he was apprehended.
Sourwine was placed into custody and booked into the Des Moines County Jail for the following warrants:
– Violation of Probation (Class D Felony)
– Violation of Parole (Class D Felony)
– Voluntary Absence From Custody (Serious Misdemeanor)
– Theft 2nd Degree (Class 0 Felony)
