November 21, 1952 — June 27, 2025

Steven Pattyn Kleckner passed away on June 27, 2025. He was the second of six children born, November 21, 1952, to Maurice and Leona (Pattyn) Kleckner.

Steve embraced the farm life. He spent many hours working ground, tending livestock, baling hay and any chores that were needed around the farm. Additionally, the farm life allowed him to hunt pheasant, rabbit, geese and squirrel. Pheasant hunting was a hobby he shared with his brothers Mark and Pat and his Uncle Jim.

Steve graduated from St. Ansgar Schools. His love of agriculture led to continuing education at NIACC and University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Later in life Steve obtained his paralegal certification.

May 7, 1988 he married the love of his life Janet Kramer. They made their home near Zimmerman Minnesota. Steve and Janet shared a love of history and reading. They enjoyed visiting historical sites and battle grounds. He spent many hours reading and researching World War II.

Steve never missed passing on a good joke, enjoyed the companionship of his cats and the taste of black licorice.

Steve had a kind heart and a lifelong circle of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ernie and Mark Kleckner, father-in-law Frederick Kramer and sister-in-law Barbara Kramer. Steve is survived by his caring wife, Janet, his brother Patrick Kleckner, his sisters Sally (Bob) Hertel and Nancy (Tom) Schrag, brothers -in- law Mark (Lori) Kramer, Dan(Barb) Kramer, Jim (Deb) Kramer, sisters-in- law Diane(Dean) Mayer, Mary Kleckner, mother-in- law Verena Kramer, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, Iowa with visitation one hour before. Burial will take place following Mass at the St. Ansgar Community Cemetery, followed by lunch at the St. Ansgar American Legion in St. Ansgar.

Hoff Celebrations – Schroeder Chapel of St. Ansgar is assisting the family with arrangements.
