WATERLOO — A Minnesota man loaded with illicit drugs who led Northern Iowa officers on a dangerous, multi-jurisdictional chase reaching 126 mph was later arrested in Waterloo on another felony drug case and ultimately sentenced to five years in prison.
Quaddre Phillip White (pictured at top), now 26, remains incarcerated at the North Central Correctional Facility in Rockwell City. Iowa corrections records list his scheduled release date as January 29, 2028.
The string of criminal cases began at approximately 6:58 p.m. on April 12, 2024, when the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 report concerning a vehicle traveling south on U.S. Highway 63 from the Howard County line.
A responding deputy located a vehicle matching the caller’s description and allegedly clocked it traveling 96 mph in a 55 mph zone while following another vehicle too closely.
The deputy stopped the vehicle, but White, then a resident of Saint Paul, Minnesota, refused to cooperate when asked to provide his driver’s license, vehicle information and proof of insurance, authorities said.
White put the vehicle into gear and fled.
The Chickasaw County deputy pursued White into Bremer County, where additional deputies joined the chase. The pursuit continued for more than 50 miles before ending along Interstate 380 in Benton County, where White was captured.
Investigators said White reached 126 mph in a posted 65 mph zone during the pursuit.
White was initially charged in Bremer County with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, eluding while exceeding the speed limit by more than 25 mph, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, first-offense marijuana possession and first-offense operating while intoxicated.
His bond was set at $10,000 cash or approved surety.
Deputy crashes during pursuit
The chase also resulted in a collision involving the pursuing Chickasaw County deputy within Waterloo city limits. The sheriff’s patrol vehicle and another vehicle were both totaled.
Waterloo police investigated the collision and determined the deputy was at fault. The deputy was charged with failure by the driver of an emergency vehicle to exercise caution under Iowa Code section 321.231.
Medical personnel at UnityPoint Health in Waterloo cleared the deputy. The other driver was not transported to a hospital, according to the crash report.
The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office was assisted during the pursuit by the Bremer and Black Hawk county sheriff’s offices, Iowa State Patrol and Waterloo Police Department.
White pleads guilty in chase case
White initially pleaded not guilty and demanded a speedy trial in May 2024. He later posted a surety bond and was released while the Bremer County prosecution continued.
On October 21, 2024, White filed negotiated guilty pleas to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and eluding while exceeding the speed limit by more than 25 mph, both Class D felonies. He also pleaded guilty to first-offense operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor.
The Bremer County court formally disposed of the case on December 13, 2024. The failure-to-affix-a-drug-tax-stamp and first-offense marijuana-possession charges were dismissed as part of the resolution.
Court filings indicate White was placed on probation. By March 2025, his past-due court fines and costs had been referred to the Bremer County attorney for collection.
New Waterloo drug case triggers more trouble
White was arrested again on June 1, 2025, following an investigation by the Waterloo Police Department.
Prosecutors charged him in Black Hawk County case FECR262503 with a controlled-substance violation, a Class C felony; failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a Class D felony; and first-offense marijuana possession, a serious misdemeanor.
A judge initially set White’s bond at $25,000 cash or surety. White requested a bond reduction, but the court denied that request in August and ordered that his bail and conditions of release remain unchanged.
White initially pleaded not guilty and pursued a motion seeking to suppress evidence. He later reached a negotiated agreement with prosecutors.
On October 10, 2025, White waived his rights and pleaded guilty to failure to affix a drug tax stamp. Judge Joel A. Dalrymple accepted the plea and entered the case disposition on October 13.
White was sentenced to five years in prison. He was awarded credit for 142 days already served.
The court imposed a $1,025 fine but suspended it. White was also ordered to provide a DNA sample.
The original Class C controlled-substance charge and the marijuana-possession charge were dismissed by the court under the plea agreement.
Probation revoked in chase case
White’s June 2025 arrest also led to new action in his earlier Bremer County case.
The Iowa Department of Corrections filed a probation-violation report on June 9, 2025, and requested a warrant. A judge ordered a public bench warrant carrying a $10,000 cash-only bond the following day.
The warrant remained outstanding into July. White eventually appeared in court and admitted violating his probation on October 15, two days after receiving his five-year prison sentence in Black Hawk County.
The Bremer County court entered an order resolving the probation matter on October 20, 2025. The sheriff’s office returned the warrant two days later.
White remains in state custody
Current Iowa corrections records show White remains in custody at the North Central Correctional Facility, a state prison in Rockwell City.
His custody status was last confirmed on June 24, 2026. Despite receiving a five-year sentence in the Black Hawk County case, White’s current projected release date is January 29, 2028.
