RURAL WRIGHT COUNTY – A one-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Hampton man Monday several miles east of Belmond in rural Wright county.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, Armando Romero-Soto, age 50, of Hampton, died in a crash that occurred Sunday evening at about 7:14 PM. Jaimes Reyes Santos, age 43, of Goodell, was injured in the crash.
Authorities said that Santos was driving a 2001 Volkswagon Jetta eastbound on Highway C-26 when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, striking a utility pole and rolling, coming to rest on its top.
Santos was not wearing a seatbelt, while Soto was.
