May 9, 1929 – May 22, 2025
Eileen Mart Dagit, aged 96, died on May 22, 2025. Her long journey with dementia has come to a peaceful end. She was ready to join the family who had gone before her. These include her husband Dorian, her daughters Theresa and Rita, her son Alan, her siblings, parents, in-laws and many friends. She is survived by her daughter Marie Pettingill, son-in-law John Pettingill and grandchildren Alayna and Jared Pettingill of Minneapolis, MN.
She was born on May 09, 1929, in Pocahontas, Iowa to Peter Mart and Margaret Neu Mart, and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School. She married Dorian Dagit, a Navy veteran of World War II and settled in Williams, Iowa. As a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams she participated in many volunteer activities. She found great joy in providing the flower arrangements for Mass over many years.
In this century, she lived at Windsor Manor Assisted Living facility in Webster City and then at Copperfield Manor – Memory Care facility in Minneapolis until her death. She loved gardening and flower arranging, birds, music, and chocolate. She cherished her Catholic faith which sustained her throughout her life.
Her funeral mass will be July 22 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams, Iowa with lunch afterwards at the church. Please come and remember her with us. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
