Memorials are preferred by the family to be used in Becky’s honor.

With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the passing of the heart of our family, Becky (Smith) Shultz, who left this world on February 15, 2025, at the age of 72. She was a woman of boundless love, unwavering faith, and endless generosity. Her presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.

Born in Greene, Iowa, Becky lived a life rich with love and purpose. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, always putting God and others before herself. Whether through her comforting embrace, her wise advice, or the countless ways she made every day special, she was the foundation upon which we built our lives.

On November 24th, 1972, she married the man whom she had a crush on since 6th grade, Jerry Shultz. From the moment they met, the universe had written their love story in the stars. Becky, the beauty queen and cheerleader, and Jerry, the captain of the football team. After marrying, Becky and Jerry moved from town to town, across the state of Iowa with Jerry’s job and eventually settled in Estherville, Iowa, where they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. They were married for over 52 years, but since the day their eyes met over 60 years ago, they were destined for a love like no other.

Becky was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Throughout Jerry’s football coaching career, the proud wife only missed one football game because she had just given birth to their daughter, Heidi, the day before the game. Becky’s daughters were all actively involved in many activities growing up and Becky was their favorite cheerleader, never missing any of their events, demonstrating a strong sense of support, commitment and active presence in their lives.

In recent years, you may not have seen Becky and Jerry cruising around Estherville as often, as they were busy with their favorite pastime – traveling the Midwest chasing grandkids. From Chaska, MN, to Des Moines and Wichita, Kansas, the grandkids are always so proud to show off their Grandma Becky and Grandpa Jerry at events. Becky’s happiest moments were spent watching her grandkids do what they love. The grandkids always knew with their grandma Becky they could do no wrong and there were no strings attached to her love.

Becky is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, daughters Hallie (Rob), Heidi (Brandon), Hope (Josh), Hilary (Gabe) and son-in-law Matt, her cherished nineteen grandchildren, Eric (Betsy), Karver, Dylan, Peyton, Tate, Macy, Beckett, Owen, Drake, Addilyn, Delainee, Braylon, Binley, Cameron, Bruer, Nora, Briggs and Finley, two great-grandchildren, Bennie and Geordie, and her siblings Chris, Melinda, Cathy (Jerome), Dave and Scott, and a host of family and friends who will forever carry her lessons of faith and love in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her daughter Heather (Shultz) Miller, parents Twila and Duane Smith, in-laws Jack and Margaret Shultz, sister-in-law Pat Smith and niece Joy Marie Baker.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19th from 4-7PM at the Good News Church in Estherville and the funeral on Thursday, February 20th at 11:00AM, also at the Good News Church in Estherville. Becky will be buried in her childhood hometown, Greene, Iowa.

Becky was her family’s guiding light, safe place, and greatest blessing. She will be missed beyond words but loved for eternity. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the stories we tell, the traditions we continue, and the love we share.
