MASON CITY – A Mason City man was arrested after a vehicle pursuit early Sunday morning.
Just after midnight Sunday morning, July 1st, Brandon Michael Anderson, 21, was driving on Highway 65 on the south side of Mason City just north of the Rose Bowl with a female passenger when an Iowa State Patrol officer attempted to pull him over.
Instead of pulling over, Anderson chose to flee the officer and proceeded at a high rate of speed into Mason City.
Authorities deployed “spike strips” at North Federal Avenue and 10th Street in an attempt to bring the chase to a halt. Spike strips are hollow tubes that cause a controlled deflation of tires, not a sudden flat.
After striking the spike strips, Anderson made his way to Pennsylvania Avenue and was arrested at the intersection of North Penn Ave. and 17th Street.
No damage was done except to the vehicle Anderson was driving, which the Iowa State Patrol said belonged to the female passenger.
The female, who is unidentified due to an open investigation, was charged with a crime but that information has not been released by the Mason City Police Department.
Anderson remains incarcerated on Monday in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
The Mason City Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol were involved in making the arrest.
