CHARLES CITY – An elderly Charles City woman was ticketed by police after she backed out of her driveway and hit a parked car.

According to Charles City police, the incident took place on June 29, 2024. At 3:56 PM, officers with the Charles City police were called to the 800 block of 2nd Street for a two-vehicle accident. Police say 79-year-old Deanna Tibbits of Charles City was backing out of her driveway in a 2012 Buick Regal when she backed right into a legally-parked 2013 Nissan Altima owned by 26-year-old Jordyn Harper-Chambers of Waterloo. Police say Tibbits caused $1300 damage to both vehicles, and they ticketed her for unsafe entry onto a roadway.
