Russell Keith Kocher, 55, of Hampton and formerly of Hawkeye and Sterling, Virginia died unexpectedly Sunday, December 8, 2024, at his home.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2025. Dates will be posted once they have been determined.
Russel Keith, son of James “Jake” and Lois (Suhr) Kocher was born May 11, 1969, in Madrid, Spain. Growing up in a State Department Foreign Service family, Russ attended schools in South Africa, Ireland, and Belgium, later attending high school at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, Virginia, graduating in 1987. He married Linda Peters, and to this union two children were born, Austin and Kaitlyn. The couple later divorced. Russ was a master cabinet maker, owning and operating his own cabinetry business. He worked in residential and commercial real estate in and around the Washinton D.C. area. While his children were young, he volunteered at the school’s daycare and coached youth football and softball. Russ enjoyed collecting cars, loved music, was very quick witted, and never met a stranger. He had many interests, but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his kids, he loved being their Dad.
Russ is survived by his children, Austin and Kaitlyn Kocher of Sterling, Virginia; on grandchild on the way; parents, Lois and Jake Kocher of West Union; brothers, Rollin (Patty) Kocher of California and Robert (Mindy) Kocher of Fort Worth, Texas; two nieces, two nephews, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
In addition to his paternal and maternal grandparents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rory.
