MASON CITY – The owner of the Mason City Domino’s Pizza restaurant gave multiple donations last year to support Iowa Congressman Steve King.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Paul M. Gritz of Mason City made three donations to Steve King in 2016. Each donation was $500.00 for a total of $1,500.00.

Gritz, who reportedly sometimes goes by the name “Marty”, owns the Mason City Domino’s Pizza franchise located at 125 South Delaware Avenue.  He also owns franchises in Kasson, Albert Lea, Austin, and Rochester, Minnesota, among others, under the name TGM Pizza, Inc.

Mason City back in 2014

Steve King, a Republican and strong supporter of President Donald Trump, has been in the news over the years for numerous controversial statements. Most recently, he suggested that white people suffered more losses in slavery than black people, and said that employers of illegal aliens should not get to deduct those expenses from their taxes. King is up for re-election to U.S. House, 4th District, in 2018, which covers much of North Central Iowa including Mason City. His campaign takes donations here.

What a weird article….Thanks for all of the positive comments!!

I am proud to report the Mason City Domino’s Pizza had a record week last week for New Year’s!!! This feat is even more impressive because we were closed Monday for Christmas, so beat our old record with just 6 days of sales:)

Thanks NIT for the free publicity.

Some of you are the most tribal, follow the leader, can’t think for themselves, intolerant excuses for human beings I’ve ever seen.

Please read quoted sections in the voice of a neanderthal who was born in Alabama.

“Him and King is like sweet tea and bizkuts. I likes me some sweet tea and bizkuts– I ain’t never buyin no pizza from nowheres other than Domeenos agin!”

RESPONSE:

“Hey Dumy! Yuse wrong! I doesn’t like me no sweet tea or biscuts. I likes cheekin and taters! I ain’t never buyin no pizza from that feller ever agin!”

You might as well boycott based on his favorite baseball team. I bet he spends money on tickets supporting your team’s rival. Better not buy a pizza from him!

If you’re one of them and you could refrain from breeding that would be just great. Thanks.

You’re obviously referring to the ones taught by Bodacious.

It’s hard to tell because so many of you are too lazy to type in a pseudonym in the box so we can tell which “anonymous” is which. It doesn’t have to be your real name, just something to differentiate yourself.

And by the way, there are morons on both sides of the political spectrum.

Sadly, Bodacious is a Tribal Leader. Not only does he think he is God, he has to be one of the dumbest commenters on here. Now I hear he is some kind of teacher? That is scary.

People should be able to donate to anyone they want without retaliation.

You should just to reading comments and not making them.
You’re a dumbass.

Bodacious why don’t you use your real handle, you coward! Your the real dumb ass here and a phony.

I’m not Bodacious you idiot.
But sound a awful lot like that stupid old coot.

King is an embarassment to Iowa.
Obviously I won’t frequent that establishment.

Does this Domino’s Pizza take food stamps?

Looking at the picture of his place of business, and the info of his donations, shame on NIT for doing this. It sure is showing bias here. This article did not need to be posted. Period!!

I’m not sure why this is newsworthy. Are you going to list all mason city businesses and their donations? Not going to change my mind on doing business there, but I’m sure there will be those that will stop and those that will go there. It’s a shame that we can’t just enjoy the free market system without ostracizing it politically. Personally, I don’t need to know that info. And do we know if there are contributions on the democrat side?

I don’t care that Mr.Gritz made contributions to Steve King or anyone else for that matter.

The last I knew, we all had the right to donate and support ANY candidate of our choice.

look who donated to hillery in her pay for play scam
and you single out the domino’s guy shame on you

I don’t eat domino’s the last one we had about 8 yrs ago was terrible. I wish we could get a pizza place back like VIC’S was. using hand made dough instead of frozen dough. pizza hut uses frozen too, haven’t had a good pizza in a long long time. caseys try’s but don’t cook them long enough, dough is doughy. someone open up a good hand made pizza dough, pizza palor and it will go over real good.

I will definitely be eating dominoes alot more now!

And people complain about the Globe not reporting worthwhile news.

Biased much?

I won’t be back

It’s stories like this that makes me want to boycott NIT.
We have freedom to donate wherever we want and when is it anyone else’s business.

Go ahead and leave. We didn’t like you anyway.

We should be able to donate to anyone we want without repercussions. The whole purpose of revealing campaign donations is to “intimidate” the person or business that is donating.

I don’t know who wrote the article but unless there is some form of personal payoff from the elected official to the person donating to a campaign, it’s a non-story.

I call it yellow journalism to hurt both the candidate and the person donating. If you want to attack their agenda that is fair game. Anything else is just gossip!

And your point is….? I know Mr. Gritz – he’s a stand-up guy and a hard worker. I’ll let the merit of the business and the product determine my patronage – regardless of contributions or political views.

I’m sure there are plenty of Conservatives that buy “Liberal dou@he”-ran Starbucks products. Maybe Mr. Gritz did what President Trump did and contributed to BOTH party’s candidates.

I really question if this is news. Will we be seeing stories from who King beat and where that person funding came. What would you think Matt if the GG ran a story on your campaign reports?

I listed a link awhile back on his DR1 & DR2 campaign financial disclosures. It was most interesting.
But then it was deleted and disappeared, wonder why that was?
Must have been embarrassed and ashamed.

King is a right wing nut I like my party pizza better

It makes sense.
Just not sure which one sucks more, Steve King or Dominos pizza.

sick support the sick ……sad

Definitely won’t be ordering from here in the future. To bad Dominoes was my favorite pizza place…

That just leaves more for me. I will be ordering all my pizza from there.

Me too. I will be buying all my pizza there!

I’ll be buying ALL my pizza from DOMINO’S from now on! Way to go sir!

SUPER! Will be buying all my pizzas at Dommie’s !!!!!!

Same here … we LOVE Mr King!!
